Hello readers, thank you for checking out today’s post! With all the things going on in this world, it sometimes can seem trivial to keep writing about things that don’t matter as much at the moment. But we all have to keep living a more or less normal life and after much research and several attempts this week to put all this together, I am happy to present to you my fourth article in my series of creating a plastic free and less cluttered bathroom. I have mentioned in previous posts that I am a minimalist at heart and I would love to achieve not just a plastic free life, but also more simplicity in every area of my life.
My beauty and self care routines are no exception. There are an overwhelming amount of beauty products in stores and online, and the advertisements to look younger and have flawless skin are everywhere. I didn’t truly start taking care of my skin until I was in my thirties and I also didn’t know much about makeup or the different steps of skin care routine. To be very honest with you, I used olive oil for a long time, then coconut oil and some other creams that I thought were totally sufficient. And for the most part they were just fine. However, I didn’t start wearing SPF regularly until just a couple of years ago. I am certain that’s why my skin shows some signs of sun damage in the form of dark spots. I have always had rather dry and very sensitive skin but again never paid much attention to what would be the best care for it. The options can be overwhelming even when my number one priority are products that are 100% natural, plant based and toxin free. Most brands promote skin care that include a variety of steps: cleansing, toning, serum, masks, day cream, night cream etc. and everything comes in plastic bottles and clutters up your bathroom, needless to say, it takes up a lot of space when traveling. Can it be just one product I can use that will be sufficient?
I can now finally say that I found something that I love!
A while ago, I came across an ad online promoting a facial oil called Kesaradi. What kind of name is that? It is produced be a company called The Ayurveda Experience. The word Ayurveda grabbed my attention. I always wanted to learn more about it and from the little I did know about it, I knew it was something I would love.
What is Ayurveda?
I don’t want to get into this too much, but I would like to give you a brief overview of what Ayurveda is. Ayurveda or Ayurveda medicine is one of the oldest holistic healing systems and was founded in India more than 3000 years ago. It’s systems are based on the belief that in order to stay healthy or regain wellness you have to work on creating a balance between mind, body and spirit. All three components are equally important for a sense of well-being. Ayurveda medicine is about promoting health and not fighting disease. In our modern society Ayurveda medicine is known as complimentary or alternative health care.
The Ayurveda Experience is a company that creates a range of Ayurveda self care products and educates on the principles of Ayurvedic medicine and beauty routines. Their practices are sustainable and their beauty oils are full of incredible herbs and plants that promote healing. Their packaging is nearly plastic free, all products come in a glass bottle, the oils are of very high quality and last for months as you are encouraged to only use a couple of drops.
I tried the Kesaradi Oil first and here is my honest opinion and verdict
iYURA Kesaradi® Oil is designed to be light and gentle on the skin and is suitable for all skin types. This oil can be used as part of your daycare or night care regimen or as a daycare/nighttime serum/moisturizer on its own. It includes saffron, rose oil, turmeric and other herbs and flowers. It does not contain artificial binders, additives, heavy metals or anything else you would not want to absorb through your skin.
The best of the best ingredients
Saffron has been known to:
- Give a radiant and smooth skin
- Brighten dull skin
- Bring about a luminous complexion
- Improve face texture
- Moisturize dry skin
Rose Oil has been know to:
- Clear acne
- Reduce signs of aging
- Minimize the appearance of scars
- Help with eczema and rosacea
Turmeric has been known to:
- Have anti-inflammatory properties
- Fight off acne
- Reduce dark circles
- Protect against sun damage
- Reduce appearance of stretch marks
- Soothe dry skin
I have been using this oil for several months now and can say that it lives up to it’s promises and all the amazing reviews. The smell is amazing and soothing and putting it on your face in the morning and at nights feels so good, comforting and healing. It’s truly a pleasure and it leaves your skin feeling very smooth, healthy and relaxed.
Take 2-3 drops of the oil in your palm. Dab onto the face and gently massage in upward, circular motion onto the face and neck every morning & night after cleansing. The recommendation is 2-3 drops, but as someone with rather dry skin I tend to use a little more, maybe 3-5 drops. However, it’s still a rather small amount and the moisture your skin receives from such a small amount is plenty.
You can use it under any skincare regimen. Though I would say that the best part is, it’s completely sufficient to use as the only face care for day and nighttime. During the day, I wear SPF on top of it for extra protection, but that’s it. This is as simple as it can get, one facial product for day and night plus SPF for extra protection, and of course any makeup you like to wear during the day. And if you want to know what I use to cleanse my face, I wrote about it in this post. Hint: It only involves water and no plastic.
Your skin might need to adjust for a couple of days. When I first started using it, my skin seemed drier than usual and at first I thought it was an allergic reaction, no itching, just dryness. But after just a couple of days and using a few more drops than recommend, my skin started to feel moist and well nurtured and I was able to reduce the drops to the recommended amount again. By they way, there is a 30 day money back guarantee.
The price might be high for some people, but I think it is certainly not overpriced for the quality and quantity you are getting. I love that they offer sales and promotions on a regular basis. I don’t think I have ever paid the full price for it and the bottle lasts for several months.
Kesaradi Oil is worth trying if…
- you are looking for simple but high quality skin care
- you believe in supporting a good company
- you believe in supporting the earth
- you want healthy, glowing and nurtured looking skin
- you would like to simplify your beauty routine
- you would love to make sure that your skin care is 100% toxin free
As you can tell, I can highly recommend it. If you are giving it a try, let me know how you like it. Also, if you happen to have already been using this, let me know about your experience as well.
Stay tuned for some more reviews on everything that The Ayurveda Experience has to offer. I love their products!
